Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch
Releasing October 14, 2014 from Balzer+Bray
Cover Designer: Erin Fitzsimmons
OH. MY. GOSH. THIS COVER. It is so pretty! Right?!?! The snow, the color, the texture—it’s prefect. I want that to be on a poster in my room. I think I *might* just happen to be Erin Fitzsimmons biggest fan. Her cover designs are absolutely fantastic. This one is definitely no exception. The trees, the leaves, the winter, the spring—this cover if gorgeous.
Summary from Goodreads:
A heartbroken girl. A fierce warrior. A hero in the making.
Sixteen years ago the Kingdom of Winter was conquered and its citizens enslaved, leaving them without magic or a monarch. Now, the Winterians’ only hope for freedom is the eight survivors who managed to escape, and who have been waiting for the opportunity to steal back Winter’s magic and rebuild the kingdom ever since.
Orphaned as an infant during Winter’s defeat, Meira has lived her whole life as a refugee, raised by the Winterians’ general, Sir. Training to be a warrior—and desperately in love with her best friend, and future king, Mather — she would do anything to help her kingdom rise to power again.
So when scouts discover the location of the ancient locket that can restore Winter’s magic, Meira decides to go after it herself. Finally, she’s scaling towers, fighting enemy soldiers, and serving her kingdom just as she’s always dreamed she would. But the mission doesn’t go as planned, and Meira soon finds herself thrust into a world of evil magic and dangerous politics – and ultimately comes to realize that her destiny is not, never has been, her own.
Space Case by Stuart Gibbs
Releasing September 16, 2014 from Simon and Schuster BFYR
Cover designed by: Lucy Ruth Cummins
I love the covers of Stuart Gibbs books that this designer has done! They re so unique, and simple and I love them. I love the art—how the astronaut dudes suits are made up of shapes and it isn’t exactly like a real suit, like a photo. They are perfect and awesome. It is a lovely cover.
Summary from Goodreads:
It’s a murder mystery on the moon in this humorous and suspenseful space adventure from the author of ‘Belly Up’ and ‘Spy School’. Like his fellow lunarnauts — otherwise known as Moonies — living on Moon Base Alpha, twelve-year-old Dashiell Gibson is famous the world over for being one of the first humans to live on the moon. And he’s bored out of his mind. Kids aren’t allowed on the lunar surface, meaning they’re trapped inside the tiny moon base with next to nothing to occupy their time; and the only other kid Dash’s age spends all his time hooked into virtual reality games. Then Moon Base Alpha’s top scientist turns up dead. Dash senses there’s foul play afoot, but no one believes him. Everyone agrees Dr. Holtz went onto the lunar surface without his helmet properly affixed, simple as that. But then Dash learns Dr. Holtz was on the verge of an important new discovery, and it’s a secret that could change everything for the Moonies; a secret someone just might kill to keep…
Until next time!

Welcome to Cover Love! Wow, way to start out with a bang! I’ve seen SNOW LIKE ASHES before and loved it, but SPACE CASE is adorable. Definitely going on my TBR.
Something about a child living on a moon base playing virtual reality games makes me giggle.
Hello! I just wanted to drop by as the artist of the Snow Like Ashes book cover.
Erin from Harper Collins commissioned me to create this cover illustration for them for Snow Like Ashes.
You can see more of the work and the process on my website! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
