THOUGHTS
I know I say this a lot, but first let’s talk about the cover. I mean…
When I saw it for the first time:
(watch the artist make it here!)
This might be my favorite cover of the year. Okay. on to the book.
I was so excited for this book because I had heard rave reviews of Everything, Everything that I knew I couldn’t miss this one. I wasn’t wrong in assuming this would be an awesome read. Nicola’s writing captivated me and put me in the story, and the characters and their stories were really thought out and strong. It was neat that she includes a big part of herself into the story; she’s Jamaican and her husband is Korean, which parallels the characters. I loved the style of the book-it is written in a way that really surprised me and that I’ve never seen before. Every two chapters or so (the chapters are short) there is a chapter about a side character or a word/place/item that is mentioned. It’s so unique and insightful and I’m surprised I haven’t seen it elsewhere. I will definitely be picking up Everything, Everything after reading this book!
