Waiting on Wednesday (1)—The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh M. O’Brien & The Iron Trial by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

New WoW

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases we are eagerly awaiting! This is my first Waiting on Wednesday! YAY! I think I will start doing this regularly with one YA book, and one MG book. Today’s two WoWs are *drum roll*:

The Vault of Dreamers

The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh M. O’Brien

Releasing September 16, 2014 from Roaring Brook Press

Summary from Goodreads:

From the author of the Birthmarked trilogy comes a fast-paced, psychologically thrilling novel about what happens when your dreams are not your own.

The Forge School is the most prestigious arts school in the country. The secret to its success:  every moment of the students’ lives is televised as part of the insanely popular Forge Show, and the students’ schedule includes twelve hours of induced sleep meant to enhance creativity. But when first year student Rosie Sinclair skips her sleeping pill, she discovers there is something off about Forge. In fact, she suspects that there are sinister things going on deep below the reaches of the cameras in the school. What’s worse is, she starts to notice that the edges of her consciousness do not feel quite right. And soon, she unearths the ghastly secret that the Forge School is hiding—and what it truly means to dream there.

Why it is my WoW:

OH. MY. GOSH. The summary. Woah. I want this book. Right now! 🙂 It sounds SO good, and the cover is very eye-catching. HAHAHAHA! Get it? EYE-catching? 🙂 I got a copy at BEA and met Caragh (she is SOOOOO nice!!!!), and like many other books, it got lost in the mail. 😦

The Iron Trial

The Iron Trial (Magisterium book 1) by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

Releasing September 9, 2014 from Scholastic Press

Summary From Cassandra Clare’s Website:

Twelve-year-old Callum Hunt has grown up knowing three rules by heart. Never trust a magician. Never pass a test a magician gives you. And never let a magician take you to the Magisterium. Call is about to break all the rules. And when he does, his life will change in ways he can’t possibly imagine.  Summary From Google Books: From the imaginations of bestselling authors Holly Black and Cassandra Clare comes a heart-stopping plunge into the magical unknown. Think you know magic? Think again. The Magisterium awaits . . . Most people would do anything to get into the Magisterium and pass the Iron Trial. Not Callum Hunt. Call has been told his whole life that he should never trust a magician. And so he tries his best to do his worst – but fails at failing. Now he must enter the Magisterium. It’s a place that’s both sensational and sinister. And Call realizes it has dark ties to his past and a twisty path to his future. The Iron Trial is just the beginning. Call’s biggest test is still to come . . .   Why it is my WoW: This book sounds very interesting. Oh, and I love that cover. The drawing style is awesome! I have heard AMAZING things about these two authors, and I am guessing their writing together could be even better. I love books about wizards and magic, and really hope (and think) that this book will fulfill my expectations! I did get a SIGNED copy of this book at BEA, but it got lost in the mail 😦

I hope you enjoyed this week’s WOW!

Until next week!

  1. I love your picks! We chose The Iron Trial for our WOW (and we’re hosting a giveaway of the ARC if you want to try to heal your broken heart by entering). We also got an ARC of The Vault of Dreamers and I am so excited to read and review it. The premise is so cool!
