Hello everyone! For all you fans of percy jackson, the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series is getting all new, revamped covers! I was so excited about this when I found out, and the artwork is by John Rocco, the same as the original covers. Here is the information, and at the bottom, the new covers (and old for comparison) for The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan!
“Every self-respecting Percy Jackson fan knows that the next book in the Heroes of Olympus series, The Blood of Olympus, will arrive in their hands on October 7, 2014. What they don’t yet know, but are about to find out, is that starting early this summer, a new fleet of the original Percy Jackson & the Olympians series will pop up in stores, sporting brand-new, reimagined covers. They’ll also find out that when these new paperback books are lined up side by side by side, they will reveal one amazing panoramic mural, the handiwork of artist John Rocco: who’s illustrated all the Percy covers since the first rejacketing of The Lightning Thief in 2006.
Even though the books won’t be available until early summer 2014, we won’t make the fans wait that long to feast their eyes. Starting Monday, February 17th (Presidents Day), the Percy Jackson Facebook pagewill be revealing the new look, one book per day. Five days. Five brand-new covers. Please help to spread the news with this online event poster.”
So what do you think? Are the old ones better, or are the new ones better? Comment below!
I will post the others later, and a review will be coming soon!
Actually, they have a very similar feel. And coming from the same illustrator, I guess I’m not surprised. I had heard there were new covers coming, but I didn’t realize the same fellow would be creating them. The new ones certainly didn’t rock me. I’m even a touch disappointed. 🙂 Guess I’ll cast my vote for the old ones.
The second cover is more epic and intense, but I always tend to love the first cover because of the nostalgia. I really don’t like change when it comes to this sort of thing. I do like that they kept the same artist so it has the same feel.
I like the new ones, but I have all of the books with the old covers… I like them both! 😀

I just love the new covers…
I love the old covers. They seem to have more of an air of mystery.
